The British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA) is a member-based organization governed by an elected Board of Directors of seventeen dentists. The BCDA is a provincial member of the Canadian Dental Association and is active in providing dental or oral health information to the public.

Our Mission: The British Columbia Dental Association is the recognized voice of dentistry in this province, dedicated to serving the interests of its members and promoting oral health.

BECOMING A MEMBER

To become a BCDA member, the application p​ackage (PDF) includes a member​ship form to be completed and submitted​ to the Association with applicable payment. Learn about the different membership category benefits and eligibility requirements below:​

Active

Benefit Information (PDF)

All dentists licensed with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC) to practice in the province qualify for Active BCDA membership. Benefits include: continuing education, practice resources and templates, individual member support and access to member publications and website.

For each College of Dental Surgeons' (CDSBC) registered practising dentist, the CDSBC collects and remits, to the BCDA, a corresponding membership fee. To activate​ membership, the BCDA requires the release of the applicant's personal contact information from the CDSBC (see CDSBC Application for Full Registration - Dentist/Consent Levels for Release of Information)​​.

Non-practising

Benefit Information (PDF)

The non-practising category is available to dentists residing in BC who are retired from practice or unable to practise due to permanent or long term disability. The BCDA encourages ongoing professional involvement through this membership selection.

Affiliate

Benefit Information (PDF)

Dentists residing outside BC qualify for the Affiliate category provided proof of one of hte following requirements is received:

  • licensed to practise outside British Columbia, or
  • retired from practice outside British Columbia, or
  • unable to practise due to permanent or long term disability outside British Columbia, or
  • dentists holding 'limited volunteer' registration with the CDSBC

Educational

Benefit Information (PDF)

Students in one of the following categories are eligible for membership:

  • University of BC student in 1st to 4th year
  • Post-graduate/Resident/Intern
    • participating in full-time accredited CDA/ADA dental post-graduate, intern or residency programs and registered with the CDSBC
  • Graduating class outside BC
    • Benefits: access to member website
    • participating in full-time out-of-province accredited CDA/ADA dental program
  • Dentists holding 'limited educational' registration with the CDSBC
